Character in the story:

Lucy: In the beginning of the story is she a grade A student, but later she changes. She has a friend called Bethan, she has a bad influence, so Lucy start smoking, wearing makeup and break the rules. Deep inside she wants to be a grade A student, but she is too afraid to reject Bethan.

Bethan: Bethan is from a bad environment. She has bad habits and inflicts other with them.

Lucy´s mother: Lucy's mother wants Lucy to be a grade A student and she don't like Bethan. lucy´s mother don't want Lucy to smoke or where make up.

Penny: she where friends with Lucy before she get beaten by Lucy. Her family has economic trouble. But Penny is a smart girl.

Summary:

In the start of the story we here about the girl Lucy. She is in detention for hitting another girl from the school called Penny. While Lucy is in detention she is looking for her friend from a bad environment, this friend is Bethan. She has a bad influence on Lucy. She says that smoking helps to stay skinny. Actually where Lucy and penny good friends, but that was before Bethan came between them. Lucy is thinking of the episode where she hit Penny because Bethan told her to do it. She did what Bethan said to prove that there was nothing and nobody between their friendship. Later in the story se see that Bethan are standing by the gate with two older boys. After the detention Lucy goes out to Bethan and they laugh to each other.
