a. Be sure you write the number of words right after your summary.

The story starts with a woman and her daughter that are hiding from some “bad people.” The woman’s name is Sandra and the daughter’s name is Emily. In the story, the mother keeps telling her daughter that she must be quiet or else the bad people will hear them and take her away. The story is about a mother that killed her own daughter because she is mentally ill. In the story, the mother really loves her little daughter, and we can see that because she always wants to hold her close to herself and she keeps telling that the bad people, actually people trying to help, wants to take her away from her so that she has to keep quiet. The daughter does not realize that she is dead, until she opened her eyes with horrified realization; there was flashes of memories as she raised her hand to her throat. Emily asked her mom: “are we dead?” Sandra answered, “Yes dear it was the only way” A shovel of dirt hit the coffins lids, as the sobbing continued from above. At last, Sandra said, “They can never take you away from me now. Not ever. Now be quiet.” Words: 199
