Outsourcing: Outsourcing is, when a company decides to get their production done in another country. For example as it is in the text with gap, that has its production in India.

Sweatshop: A sweatshop is an unorganized workplace with bad working conditions.

Subcontractor: The subcontractor is the factory, which makes and delivers the items to the main company.

Minimum wage: That is the lowest amount of money you can get, within the laws of the current country.

Transnational Company: A transnational company is a company, which has seats in multiple countries around the world.

What discovery was made in a textile factory producing garments for the clothes retailer Gap?

Child workers some as young as 10 years old, was discovered working for Gap. In textile factories in conditions close to slavery to produce clothes.

Describe the working conditions in the factory.

The children has described long hours of unpaid work, as well as threats and beating. So the conditions are very bad, and not near to be fair for any human.

How did gap react to the news?

Gap said it was unaware that clothing for the Christmas sale, had been improperly subcontracted to a sweatshop using child labour. So they denied, that they should know about the sweatshops.
