The history about American football goes back to the 1800 in England, where a football player got frustrated about, that he only were able to play his feet, so he picked up the ball and ran with it. Even though it was against the normal football/soccer rules, it created a kind of soccer revolution. This made people think that you could play soccer in other ways, it made a group of other players invent a new a game, that is the way Rugby was born. This new sport became very fast a huge succes in England and quickly found its way to America in the mid 1800. Many north-east colleges began to play rugby, and not long after Harvard, Columbia, Yale and Princeton university met In Massachussets in 1876, to make new rulebook for Rugby. Instead of a normal round ball, you used a ovoid/egg-shaped ball, and the games, name was changed from Rugby to American football. In 1883 Walter camp made the rules we know today.

American football is played on a field which is 120 yards long and 50 yards wide, and like in European football, each team has a goal at the end of the field, a end zone and a field-goal, which is a goal above the ground, if the opponent reach the end zone they get 6 point, after you reached the end zone, they have a opportunity to get a extra point, by kicking the ball (like a freekick in soccer) into the field goal. One team consist of 45 players, but only 11 of them plays at once. Each player plays his own, well-defined role and position on the team. No players are defense and offensive. When a team loss the ball, the attackers run out, and in the defends go.
