American idol is a reality television singing competition created by, Simon Fuller, and produced by Fremantle media North America, and 19 Entertainment. First airing was on Fox 11 June 2002. It’s based on the UK show Pop idol. It has become one of, the most successful shows in the history of American television. It was the most watched TV series from 2005 – 2011 in the Nielsen ratings, and it’s the only program who has been number one for seven consecutive. The concept of the series is to find new solo recording artists. When the season start, the judges travels to different cities. In each city they make a competition, and during these competitions they find a best idol. The next step is the big show in television. In the show they performance their appearance, and the viewers vote for their own idol. Winners are chosen by viewers through telephone, Internet, and SMS text. The series employs a panel of judges who critique the contestants' performances. The original three judges were record producer and music manager, Randy Jackson, pop singer and choreographer, Paula Abdul and music executive and manager, Simon Cowell. From first airing till now there have been 11 seasons. The upcoming season 12's judging panel consists of Jackson, R&B singer, Mariah Carey hip hop artist, Nicki Minaj, and country singer, Keith Urban. The series is emceed by Ryan Seacrest. The show had originally planned on having four judges following, the Pop Idol format. But they only found three judges in the start. The show is helpful for people who have talent, and want to become singers. I think that the reason for people to auditioning at American idol is that they want to become famous, and they want to be singer. Their goal is to fulfill their dream and to make people see what they can do. I don’t like it when the judges tell people that they can’t sing, but their family and friends tell them that they can sing. My favorite season is season seven. The judges of season seven is the seventh season of American Idol, the annual reality show and singing competition, began on January 15, 2008 and concluded on May 21, 2008. Ryan Seacrest continued to host the show with Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, and Randy Jackson returning as judges. The winner of season seven Is David Cook. I think the show will last long and people will keep seeing it.
