We stormed down to the docks of Alcatraz, yelling to your lungs full extent, in the hope that the boat would hear us and return to the island. We yelled and yelled. After about 10 minutes of yelling our throats felt like sandpaper and our mouths felt dry as a dessert. As the boat got further and further away, panic struck us, and we hugged each other tight. I noticed that she was shaking, and as the amazing brother that I am, I have her my jacket. Though I must admit It was pretty terrifying, being left like that on an island, once dedicated to murderers and rapists.
Once my sister stopped shaking, we decided to search the island for other people, as we had no wish bunk in a deserted prison. On the way up to the main entrance we checked our phones, unfortunately still no signal. We knocked on the door which made much more noise than expected. It felt like the sounds of the knocking resonated through the walls of the old building, and the building returned the knocks with a deep hollow sound. If someone had been in there, they would have heard for sure. We waited a couple of seconds to listen response or a sound that could verify the existence of other people. We looked disappointed at each other, and was just about to leave, as we heard a sound from within the prison. it sounded like someone was approaching the door! Our smiles cracked as an ugly rat squeezed its fat little head out from underneath the door. We returned disappointed and crestfallen to the dock, Back to square one.
