In this essay I will make a characterization of C.P Ellis, who were president for the Ku Kux Klan in his hometown, Durham. Especially I will have focus on why he joined the Ku Kux Klan,
C.P Ellis was born 8th January 1927 and died the 3rd November 2005. He was born in Durham and had a father who worked at a textile mill in Durham. But he passed away when C.P was seventeen. He also had a mother and sister. We do not know much about his mother, but it sounds like she was a house wife. He dropped out of school, because he “[…] Had a mother and a sister depending on somebody to make a livin’”. C.P. never finished school. he quit school when he was about eighth grade and started working so he could provide his mother and sister.
C.P loved his father and they were very close. One thing that still were stocked on C. P’s head was, that his father never showed joy. Psychical it must have been so hard for C.P to see his father always being sad and always try to figure out how he was going to pay the bills. It must have touched him to see his father drink and try to forget the bad economy in the family. It must have had a big influence to his personality. If I was C.P. I think I would build a hatred and frustration.
