Selfies are everywhere, and there is always something happening on social media to encourage it. The duck-face selfie, the no-makeup selfie, the fitness guru’s esc. All of this is fun, but at some place it affect your self-esteem. But how does it affect you? Is it good or is it bad?

The self-esteem, especially teenagers, can be affected positively by taking selfies. Many teenagers think that they get a boost to their confidence. Many teenagers also mean, that they can show their best side, because they have the full control over the picture, because they took it themselves. While they boost their confidence, they are also boosting their self-esteem.

A reason why they also can boost their self-esteem is, that they can Photoshop their pictures.

They can make themselves skinnier, more tanned, make bigger eyes and so on. Actually they can change themselves to look like a different person, and in their eyes, the perfect human being.

If they post a picture that they edited so much, then it isn’t themselves they post a picture of. It’s a person they would like to be. I don’t think it’s healthy, to change yourself that much just to get likes and compliments, but I think it’s working on the self-esteem.
