The Amish Lifestyle. What a fascinating way of living. The Amish people are a section of the American population who complies with the so called “Ordnung”. The “Ordnung” is a set of unwritten rules which in some way act like the Amish constitution. All the 308.o30 Amish people who mainly lives in Ohio, Indiana, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin are very religious. As a matter a fact they are so religious that they value God and the Anabaptist church higher than their families although the family is one of the highest priorities in the Amish culture. I mentioned the word Anabaptist, didn’t I? Yes, their religion is a branch of Christianity and it is believed that the religion is rooted in the Protestant Reformation. The word Anabaptist comes from the commonly known Christian group Baptism and means “re-baptized”.
So, why is the Amish lifestyle such different to our way of living you might ask. And why is it so special from ours? It is because of their need to receive salvation. And to go to heaven for all eternity. So, they believe that the best way to obtain this salvation is by being separated from “worldly sin” as it is likely to be called. And by not having access to computers, televisions, electronic vehicles, mobile phones (in fact many Amish people now actually carries a phone) or radios as we do they have achieved this complete separation from the “outside world”. They also believe that Amish people hasn’t got the same tendency to become depressed or stressed by having this slower weekday and not be tied down by the technology and electronic devices. Therefore, they do have, of course when they have finished work and all the other doings, more time to socialize with their family. And I truly believe that “socialize” is a word that is involved too little in an ordinary context outside the Amish culture.
