We thought it would be great to know more about this special people and their way of living. Also because it’s the 21st century and they live like they did in the 1800 century. We want to tell you more about this strange way of living, and the advantage and disadvantage of being an Amish person, and why people decides to make a closed society, and live so complicated for a way to believe in, when we have technologies that can fix all of this for us.

Where do they live, and what language do they speak? [NAVN B]

They live in 23 different American states, but they’re really known as Pennsylvanians. In Pennsylvania there is a small town called Bird In Hand, Pop. 600. People didn’t really recognize the Amish society, because they stay away from the modern American enticements. When the movie Witness was in the cinemas, people started to open their eyes for the Amish. These people want to live and follow the words from the bible, and that is what it all is about.

The Amish people immigrated to The United States of America in 1737. They used to speak Deutsch, before they moved. They took their language with them, and it’s now known as Pennsylvania Dutch, and many people think it’s hard to understand – because it’s not the real Deutsch thing. It’s only the Amish people there can understand it. Even though they speak English, and learned English, they only use Pennsylvania Dutch at home.
