Jessica Watson was born in 1993, in Australia. She was a shy and humble girl. She was also dyslexic, which is a problem in school. She spent a lot of years on the family´s houseboat. She was inspired by a sailing story when she was in an age of 12, and she was 16 years old, when she decided to sail around the whole world. But first, she must have an intense training and preparation.
Jessica Watson was Nominated as the Young Australian of the Year 2011.
She was nominated because of, she was the youngest human, who sailed alone around the world, in her boat named “Ella´s Pink Lady”. And it took her only 7 months to sail around the world. While she was in action, she also was daily blogging the journey. While she was sailing, she experienced bad weather at the seas, and her boat almost capsized three times. Which was very lucky for her, her family, and the whole world’s population. when she came home, a heroic welcome, was well-deserved. Subsequent she wrote a book about her journey “True Spirit”, and the book became a best seller book. There is also made a film about her journey around the world. The film is also named “True Spirit”.
