Jessica Watson: Young Person of the Year

Jessica Watson recently got nominated as the young Australian of the year.

This year Jessica Watson got nominated as ‘the young person of the year’.

There is a lot of reasons why Jessica got nominated, but mostly because she is a tomboy. Jessica has sailed around the world in her very own boat, at the age of nineteen, and actually has the record for the youngest person to sail alone around the world. She has even experienced her boat almost capsized three times.

Jessica isn’t just a tomboy she also have her own blog where she post pictures of some of the amazing things she has experienced while travelling in her boat. Her blog has reached 4.3 million followers in a timeline of one year and 8 mouths.

Another crazy fact about Jessica is that she actually has written a bestseller book about her sailing experiences to, and has also featured in a film talking about her world around trip. Both the film and the movie is called ‘True spirit’. The film and book is just as inspiring as her, and you can really see why she is such a great role model

When Jessica wasn’t older than twelve years old she watched a documentary about a old man who had lived thirteen years of his in his boat. He loved sailing and exploring, especially the unknown, which to him was the deep blue sea. Jessica got so inspired by the documentary, that she decided that se wanted to life her life exactly like the him. She spent most of her time at the family houseboat and loved watching the sunset from the boat. She felt like that the sea was where she belonged.
