I think there are some crimes that are so despicable that no one can redeem themselves from. I also don't think "serving time" is always an appropriate punishment either so I don't think "serving time" is enough. But I don't believe "once a criminal, always a criminal" I do believe there are some circumstances where an offender can change and redeem themselves. I think it depends on the crime, the person who committed the offence, if they show compassion or remorse for the victim(s). There is so much more to it than just "serving time".
I think the best way to decrease crime, would be to focus on helping ex-convicts after they served their time because, some of them don’t even know what to do, and some people have been in prison most of their time, so the only place they would know of is jail. Like I wrote earlier, I think that people who made some despicable crimes like, rape, homicide, phedophilism, and racism should get convicted hardly. But I do not think that children at the age of down to 12 should go to prison like they do in Russia. I think they should get help from organizations that they would benefit from.
