Once a criminal always a criminal

ONCE A CRIMINAL, ALWAYS A CRIMINAL. I think there are some crimes that are so despicable that no one can redeem themselves from. I also don't think "serving time" is always an appropriate punishment either so I don't think "serving time" is enough. But I don't believe "once a criminal, always a criminal" I do believe there are some circumstances where an offender can change and redeem themselves. I think it depends on the crime, the person who committed the offence, if they show compassion or remorse for the victim(s). There is so much more to it than just "serving
