The first thing we hear about in the video “Distracted Driving Killing More Americans” is Ryan who died as only fifteen years old in a car accident. Ryan and some of his friends crashed into a tree, when the driver lost control over the car. This happened in October 2008. Ryan was the only one who died. His father Thomas was a police officer. He says that the driver was inexperienced, distracted and driving too fast. Thomas is now driving around to share his story, to make other people pay attention to this subject. The story is too familiar in the USA. Four thousand teenagers lose their lives in car accidents every year. The secretary of the US department of transportation says distracted driving has become an epidemic, because so many thinks they can talk in cellphones and drive safely at the same time, but they cannot. Driving events has been scheduled with the purpose to help people remember to be alert all the time. At one of these events teenagers tested their driving skills with, and without distraction. 19 year old Kevin is one of the tested drivers. He says that the test proved to him how bad it is to text and drive at the same time. Debbie adds that one of the reasons for why teens are so distracted is that their brains are not fully developed before they turn 25, and if you combine this with inexperience, you get a high risk.
