We all have something that we are afraid of, and everyday people out there fight different battels, those aspects had been putted into a story, about a boy and his daily struggles in the novel called,” Monster under the bed” which is a short little story and it’s written by Lezanne Clannachan. The writer lives in West Sussex and she runs a local writing group. This little novel was published in 2011.
First in the story we get introduced to one of our main characters, one named Eddie. The whole story takes place at Waterloo station, in London city. Eddie got here because he went shopping. The description of the environment is really calm, we hear about how silent the station is, there are no one else but Eddie, besides 2-3 people running by to get their train. More specifically the story takes place on a bench at the station, here Eddie sits with some cakes he brought from a little bakery called Hampstead bakery. We get the feeling that the story takes place in the late evening, because as we hear in the story “He shakes his head, having memorized the timetable last night”. We also know that it’s the first time for Eddie to be out shopping and he himself, was also listening till all the things around him. “It’s the noise he had not been prepared for – traffic, sirens, roadworks and underneath it, the great roar of the city”. This establish that we are in a major city.
