This story starts out with Grace, who is driving through an old road. The road is grey, sad and dry, with abandoned stations. She is looking for her son, that disappeared. She is very confused about the dissection, if she should call Bud Harris, but she doesn’t know if that could lead Billy to bigger problems.
Grace had developed her grandmothers arthritis in the past years, and had problems with using her hands for too long for sewing, in this case. Once a union organizer told her that the athirst she had could maybe be because of reparative stress injuries. It was not common to have arthritis at her young age. The union organizer gave up their shop, because none of the women was talking to him.
Steiner that owned the shop was very understanding for Grace, and gave her, her time to do what she needed to. Steiner was a nice, sunburn skinned, thin and caring. He said that, as long as my dresses will become ready and getting money by it, he was all good. The dresses he sold was in Philadelphia, and was expanding to New York. Grace had a little problem with that, she was not sure if she had the money for that. Things were getting expensive. The part time job in Wallmart, was also problematic, but she also needed to use her hands there. You had to wait a long time, to get a job there. People would do anything to get a job, no matter how bad the job was and they would do anything to stay in the job. For me, that sounds so sad, to not like your job, but can’t do nothing about it, because you need the money. I personally cant imagen that situation, because I think it important to like you job! Anyways. Last year she had a job in Wendy’s, as a second job, but Grace was only there for a week.
