Analyse af novellen 'The Bad Boy'

The story is about a boy named Larry and a girl named Geraldine and her family.

Geraldine is nearly thirty, she is handicapped, Geraldine is sow handicapped that she can’t pronounce her own name.

Larry who is a bad boy in Geraldine’s mother’s eyes is in love with Geraldine. Her mother dos not like Larry because he doesn’t go to church. Her family is strictly religious they go to mass and have evening prayers.

Geraldine and Larry like each other, they sometimes meet at night, one night Geraldine’s sister follow them.

The sister saw them, and saw who good and funny they have together. The sister like the way Geraldine is after her meeting Larry, she is soft and steady breathing and there were some kind of warmth in her eyes.

Geraldine’s mother overprotects her, she has never before looked the doors in their house, but one night is looked the doors.

The narrator and Geraldine have a good and warm relationship.

Geraldine brushes her sisters hair every night, and she loves her for doing it, because she is the only one who have the patience to get all the tangles out.

The sister feels pity for Geraldine, she thinks it’s a shame that Geraldine can’t pronounce her own name and that she should have had an easier name like Anne.
