A short summary of the short story
What happens?
The main character is a zombie who runs from a group of humans.
How does the story differ from classic zombie fiction?
The perspective is different. We hear about a zombie, and how the humans are against it. We don´t hear it from someone who´s alive, but from the monster that we normally are against. We´re more likely to think be on the zombie’s side in this story, than usual, because here does the zombie actually think, and we´re in its mind, and we´re hearing about how the people are against it. We know it´s zombie, because a human being wouldn’t be able to do anything, if he or her lost many body parts
“He was already wounded, having lost an arm and a leg, trying to drag himself to safety using the nub of his shoulder and his last good hand” (p. 146, line 15)
“They always hunted in groups, never alone……. It might have been a little easier to escape had it just been one of them. He could have a fighting chance” (p. 147, line 6-8) The humans haunt in groups, so they can help each other, but zombies could easily haunt alone.
