The video is a news report from the news station RT America. The host introduce the 3D printer as a machine that can print out organs or knees to help people in need. Then the host talks about the sheep, dolly that got cloned in the late 90’s. It is the first living animal that has gotten cloned successfully. The question if humans soon can be cloned is brought in to the light and then she talks with a reporter from New York.
Right now, we are 3D printing guns and food, but scientists are trying to use the technology in something called bio printing. They are printing heart valves, knee cartilages, bone implants, kidney cells and even healing tissue. The goal is to print organs in the future to get rid of the waiting list for organ transplants. The reporter says that it would be a huge benefit to the public and the medical community. It raises of course a lot of questions about abusing the 3D printing technology for bad things.
They talk about a project called “Stranger visions”. They take a DNA sample from people and put it in this 3D printer and prints out a “face”, which is supposed to look like the real person. That can be very scary for us people to experience, because many people instantly think to themselves, what will that develop to in the future? What will that be used for in the future?
