Cynthia Newton has a daughter who is 12 years old. Cynthia spends much of her time on social networking like Facebook. She uses it so much that she one day didn’t wants to help her daughter with homework. She says, “ I’m an addict. I just get lost in Facebook”. She spends about 20 hours a week on the social networking. Her Facebook embarrasses her so her name on Facebook is Newton (that is not her real name). She has tried to cut her utilization down on her Facebook, but it didn’t work. Some therapists are interviewed for this article and they say that the problem is not Facebook. She says, “ I’m on it myself” she herself uses Facebook and doesn’t mean that it’s the problem. The first thing Newton does when she wakes up that is checking her Facebook. If you ignore everything expect Facebook you may have a real problem.

Social networking is the grouping of individuals into specific groups. By using social network a whole new world open for you. If you live in the USA, you could be friend with someone in Denmark or Australian. You can learn new cultures or new languages. If you use social network you can also be everybody you want to be and that mean you can meet people and be anonym. Technologies have transformed our life and make it easy for people to meet and share things. The researchers in the study shows that social network is encouraging useful skills. The study looked at more than 5000 hours of online observation and determines that the digital is creating new opportunities for young people. Co-author Lisa Tripp, says that using technology extend the circle of friend, boosts self-directed learning and gives the independence. The study also shows that people’s learning with digital media often is more self-directed, with a freedom and autonomy. Social networking is encouraging technology skills, and that is going to be essential to the digital economy. But social networking is not just progresses and good thing. Everyone have the possibility to meet everybody, which is not so bad, but you can also meet immoral people. If you aren’t caution you can get viruses and your pc data can be steal from you with out knowing. You should always be careful about meeting people from the Internet. Some people can just be sucked in virtual world so much that they can overlook many things like work. For example Cynthia Newton have a daughter who asks her for help to do some homework, but Cynthia choose to stay on Facebook. She spends half of her time on Facebook because she has become addict to Facebook. If you lose sleep over Facebook that means you’re probably is an addict. If parents want to protect their children from being addict or fall in the wrong arms they should keep an eye on what their children are doing.
