Anders Nygaard Studieretningsprojekt Amerikansk udenrigspolitik 20/12-2017 Abstract This paper examines the development in the American foreign affairs, and investigates whether the US can preserve its position as a superpower in the international system in a longterm perspective. The first part of the paper is an account of the American self-perception, and how it´s expressed in the Monroe-, Truman and Bush doctrines, which all has been analysed. The second part is an investigation of how the United States' foreign policy and how the country´s role in the international system can be expounded.
