John Milton's Paradise Lost is a book in which he talks about heaven and hell. The book is mainly focused on Satan the king of hell and on Adam and Eve. Satan is not very happy with God so he decides to try to take him down and become God. When he goes about trying to take down God he has to ask for advice from the other people in hell such as Mammon and Belial. Belial says that they should attack Man and in which Satan sees Adam and Eve. Satan gets angry and jealous of how beautiful and perfect the couple are. It is at this point where he starts his soliloquy about them. One of the major themes of Paradise Lost is revenge because Satan tries to take God down but he has to use Adam and Eve as victims to keep going. The biggest theme is probably fate because God knows what is going to happen to Adam and Eve but he decides to do nothing about it. This means that Adam and Eve never really had a chance of surviving. I do not think that Satan is a very sympathetic character because he does not care about Adam and Eve getting hurt. Instead he focused on the mission he needed to complete.
