Child abuse happens more often than most people think. Actually die approximately 5 children every day because of it, and most children become victims at 18 months or younger. Often are children from a home of abused at a risk for later interpersonal problems as aggressive behaviour. This is the case in ”Son of Satan” written by Charles Bukowski. It is written in 1982 and it is about an 11-year-old boy. It takes place in the narrator’s garden during the summer holyday. The narrator is with to of his friends, Hass and Morgan, in his garden were they are bored and smokes. During the boredom, they decide to harass a neighbour called Simpson, because he is lying about having sex under the narrator’s house. They start to beat Simpson, and because the narrator wants to feel superior to the other boys, he decides to hang him. Simpson does survive, and because he is frightened he tells his parents, who wants to call the police. The narrator’s father pays them of, and makes them promise not to tell them, and when the narrator comes home he beats him
The story is told by a 1.perosn narrator. He is a distributed boy, and is the leader of the group he has with Hass and Morgan. Even though it was his idea to go over to Simpsons house and it was him who took the first punch at him, he does not want to hurt him for real. But because he does not want to show any weakness he keeps on harassing him: “I didn’t want to go on with it any longer. I figured Simpson had suffered enough but I was the leader and I was going to have to fight Hass afterwards and I couldn’t show any weakness”.
