Many people are raised by the mantra “Treat others like you want to be treated”. This great example of a mindset is something that especially the characters of Laura Wade’s 2014 drama, The Riot Club, could learn a great deal from. Unfortunately, not everyone is able to learn from the many great things they are taught.
The Riot Club is an attempt to create an alternative, to the often picture-postcard perfect portrait of the wealthiest Britons. In other words, Lauren Wade tries to illustrate what the posh and most privileged citizens of Great Britain might be like from the behind the facade. We get a glance at the pretty boys, who do not seem as pretty on the inside as you would have thought. By the story, we are given a completely different view of social class, something that has obsessed Britons for years. Among class, some other themes of the movie are the difficulties of fitting in, peer pressure and battling your own morality.
In my opinion, the most interesting character from the film is Miles. Miles went to one of the greatest schools in all of the United Kingdom. He definitely fits the criteria of the upper class. Nevertheless, he does not seem to share the posh values of the Riot Club members. His problem is that he does not realise that before much later on.
