I chose this topic, because I think it’s very interesting. I want to acquire a lot of knowledge about this topic. It brings understanding into how hard people fought. I want to gain knowledge about how the white South Africans could be so racists. Learn about how it affected the colored South Africans lives.
In 1912 – 1992 South Africa was in a period called Apartheid. Apartheid means living apart. Apartheid was an ideology based on a wish to separate different human races. It also perceived the white race as superior to all other races. Apartheid Is a political regime which seeks that there is a huge separation between the black and the white people. The whites had much better conditions than the black, the Indians and all the colored. The white people governed whole South Africa. They had all the political and economic power and the nonwhite people had nothing to say about it they didn’t even have rights. The white people literally owned the whole country. Non White people couldn’t sit on the same benches as the whites, they couldn’t go to the white’s beaches, cinemas, trains, schools or anything else. The system could also throw innocent people away from their home at any time. During apartheid the whites were the first class citizens then came Indians, the colored and last the black people. Even though the Indians were second best they still couldn't vote in elections or had any rights. They just didn’t get treated as badly as the black people.
