I have chosen to work with Nelson Mandela and his huge impact on civil rights. When I think of civil rights, I think of freedom, and by that I think of a freedom fighter. A fighter like Nelson Mandela who fought for freedom between black and white people in South Africa. I am so impressed by this truly wonderful and incredible man, and for what this did, not only in South Africa, but for what he did for the civil rights movement worldwide. In some places, racism is still an on-going problem and therefore, I think it´s an important subject to come around.
Who was Nelson Mandela?
As I said, Nelson Mandela was an amazing freedom fighter, who fought for his own and every other black person’s rights. Besides that, Nelson was also the first black president in South Africa.
Nelson was an apartheid activist and he was the man who led South Africa out of apartheid.
Growing up in South Africa?
Nelson grew up in a small town with his family. Unfortunately, at a very young age, Nelsons father lost his job, so they were forced to move to another city, where Nelsons mom’s family lived. They were very poor, so Nelson made his own toys, so he had something to play with. Luckily, Nelson managed to go to school as the first one in his family. Very sadly his father died from a lung disease when he was just 9 years old, and after that, his life changed dramatically.
