I was quite nervous, because what should I expect? I have never been in an American high school, I´ve only ever seen them in American movies, where they never have morning hair, it’s the nerds vs the football players, and where people studently just start dancing on the tables while singing the same lyrics. What was I walking in to? I did not know.
My first class was physics. I was like cool, because again I didn’t know what to expect, and in the American films, they are always blowing something up. Did they meet my expectations, no. They looked as engaged as we do back home, and that doesn´t say much. I know, it took me by surprise as well. But they are also just humans. And I could tell that day, that they do not wake up with hair sitting perfect, they do have mornings like the rest of us.
Lunch was next. I was sitting with some of my new class mates, when studently everyone started hammering their knifes down on the table. My first thought was shiiit, are they all going to start dancing. But it wasn’t as cool, they just wanted to welcome the new student, me.
