The three texts are about smoking ban in England, and which benefit or disadvantage it will take. The first text “Benefits of smoke ban will be felt at once” is written by a science editor, Robin McKie, of the British newspaper The Observer. Here are a lot of facts which give food of thought. Everyone know that it isn’t the best for you and your health. But before I read the article I hadn’t thought about smoking could be so harmful that the fact in the article says! For example in Ireland and Scotland the bar workers complained of fewer respiratory problems within months of the bans being introduced. Six month later the number of the attacks fell by 40 per cent. The managers and owners of the pubs, clubs and cafes, will become fines up to 2.500 euro, if they allow customers to smoke like they want to do. He emphasizes a lot of what smokes do to you, and what happens with your health and everyone around you.

Text two “Is this the end of English literature?” is written by A. N. Wilson who is a British novelist and biographer. His point of view is contrary to the previous text, as he considers is being an important part of British culture. He thinks that smoking does not have an effect on the quality of life and health. He names a long series of former British writers, who all used to smoke with good reasons. Smoking is a social phenomenon, which is very valuable for some people. It is a very funny heading for the text because Wilson thinks that it is a British culture and it is not the same without.
