We are facing a time in our society where some people think that they have control over their life – whether it is regarding drugs and pills, alcohol, managing anger and temper issues, and even something as ‘simple’ as food. Eating (too much) of the wrong food can affect a person’s lifestyle and daily day abilities and most of all, their health. Given that we are a nation of free people, politicians will not worry further about how we eat and maintain a healthy lifestyle other than saying it is our own responsibility. The health topic within the British borders is heavily discussed in Sarah Boseley’s book “The Shape We’re in” published in 2014. In this extract of her book she uses several examples on how our society is worrying less of their health and becoming more obese and overweight.
The speaker of the extract of the book is the author of the book, Sarah Boseley. Sarah is a British health editor of The Guardian and has been for over 10 years now. She has won numerous of awards for her work on HIV/Aids in Africa, has won ‘One World Media’ twice, and the Lorenzo Natali of the European Commission as well. She has written the book The Shape We’re in: How Junk Food and Diets Are Shortening Our Lives”. Also, she writes and discusses about a wide range of issues even beyond Britain. Most of her works are medical, scientific and concerning the British health policy, but she has expanded her focus to the increasing amount of several other health issues on a global plan.
