A Manuscript for a Speech on Your Culture for Foreign Employees
Hello and welcome everybody.
My name is [NAVN A], and I am a Danish specialist in cultural understanding. Tonight, I will be telling you about how to get a cultural understanding as a foreign employee in a Danish company. As you may know, it can in some scenarios be a little bit difficult to step into a whole new place of employment. It can be a big risk, because many foreign employees go into it with their lives, and then regret afterwards and get a culture shock, or maybe the family get a culture shock or other likely things. Since you are going to work in a workplace here in Denmark, I will now do what is in my power to get you guys prepared for that in the best possible way.
Based on Hofstede’s onion diagram, I will start out by giving you a kind of general knowledge of the Danish culture.
First off all we have the most important factor, our values.
A few of the most important cultural values in Denmark are safety and security, equality, Christianity, our welfare system and generally our freedom.
Denmark is a very secure and healthy country because of our welfare system among other things. We have very much equality, especially among sexualities, but the strong also takes care of the weak by e.g. paying more tax.
