Love is a big thing, sometimes so big that you don’t know what to do with it. It can be confusing sometimes, and it can be the most wonderful thing you have ever experienced. You can have love for your family and your partner, but you can also have love for nature, animals, weather etc. In the novel All my friends are superheroes by Andrew Kaufman (2003) have Tom a lot of love for his wife The Perfectionist. The Perfectionist also loves Tom very much. But the sad thing is that she can’t see Tom.
The novel is about a lot of different superheroes who all have their own unique superpowers. The story is a mix of two different genres - romance and fantasy. One of the superheroes, The Perfectionist, is Tom’s wife, but at their wedding Hypno - The Perfectionist’s ex-boyfriend - become jealous and hypnotizes the Perfectionist into not seeing Tom. Therefore, Tom becomes invisible to the Perfectionist. A couple of months later, The Perfectionist is sure that Tom has abandoned her. So, she moves to Vancouver as a coping mechanism, to start a new and perfect life. Tom has until the wheels touch the runway in Vancouver to convince The Perfectionist that he is visible, or Tom will lose her forever.
