Some argue that life is not destined, others that life is destined, but what is destiny to you? In the movie ”Slumdog millionaire”, life was always destined for the lead role Jamal. The 18-year-old Jamal went from being a boy in the slums Destiny was the explanation for him winning the biggest show in india. Destiny was the reason why he was held back at a police station, tortured, beaten and questioned in order to figure out if he had cheated his way on the Indian version of Who Wants to be a Millionaire? The movie, is directed by Danny Boyle, and it received 8 Oscar. The movie is an adaption of a novel ‘Q & A’ written by the proclaimed Indian author Vikas Swarup.
The name of the movie ”Slumdog Millionaire” is interesting. Jamal didn’t exactly live the wealthy rich life of an indian kid. He’s a poor boy from the slums, and for him to get onto the show, with the ability to answer any of these questions, is very unlikely to happen. He hasn’t been given a formal education, and in a country like India where social status is divided by class with extreme poverty, the oportunity to become rich is a dream. For many, it’s only a thought. This summerizes the whole movie by telling us what his life is and who he is as a person. Somebody who’s apparently not worth anything, is actually looking, eyeing everything and knowing everything
