Frida Kahlo Birth Frida Kahlo was born on the 6th of July 1907. Frida was born in her parents’ house, later called The Blue House or Casa Azul, in Coyoacan in Mexico. Her birth name was Magdalena Carmen Frida Kahlo y Calderon. Childhood Frida’s dad was a German descendant and photographer. He immigrated to Mexico, where he met Frida’s mother, Matilde. Matilde was half American and half Spanish. Frida had two older sisters and one younger sister. When Frida was 6 years old, she got a disease called polio, and had to lay in bed for nine months.
