I was sitting in my bed, looking for a hotel in England. It was overly expensive, but a small ad showed in the right corner and said: “Can’t afford a hotel? Want to meet local people? Then why not try CouchSurfing?”. It was an advertisement for CouchSurfing which I’ve heard positive feedback about. So, I gave it a shot and immediately booked a flight to England, London. All I had to do was to pay and CouchSurfing would set me up with a host family in England. I arrived at London Gatwick Airport with only little clothes and a tooth paste and brush. The West’s as my host family name were, stood smiling at the end of the tunnel waving with a flag with my name on it. I was nervous for this however the West’s were so forthcoming to me, so I loosened up immediately!
The impression I first got when I saw the West’s accommodation, was the fancy but classic style they had. A lot of paintings and other English cultural objects hanging around as an old plane model and their complete vinyl collection. The family consisted of the parents Mike and Elisabeth and their 14-year old son named Sean. Mike and Elisabeth owned a music store which focused on vinyl, turntables, needles and merchandise, and it’s called Moby Disc.
