Shiva is a Hindu god he’s the third god in the triumvirate that consists of three gods. The other two gods are Brahma and Vishnu. Shiva is known for his untamed passion, which leads him to extreme in behaviors. Sometimes he is an ascetic abstaining from all worldly pleasures. At others he is a hedonist. Shiva has a wife called Parvati which brings him balance. Their union allows him to be an ascetic and a lover, but within the bounds of a marriage.
His representations as a man Shiva always has a blue face and throat. Shiva is dressed in simple animal skin usually in a yogic position. Parvati (his wife) is also at the side of shiva. One of his features is a third eye that represents the wisdom and insight that Shiva has. It is also believed to be the source of his untamed energy the second feature is a cobra necklace that signifies Shivas power over the most dangerous creatures in the world. The snake represents Shivas power of destruction and recreation. The snakes sheds its skin to make way for new smooth skin.
His third feature “The vibhuti” there are three white lines drawn across his forehead. They represent his all parvading nature, his superhuman power and his wealth. They also cover up his powerful third eye.
