A. In a paragraph of about 150 words, briefly describe the main issue raised in this text.
The main issue raised in the text here, is that science and technology has changed the world so dramatically that things have happen which many people find unpalatable.
So what is so much changed that people find difficult to accept? In most cases scientific advances are based on ethical concerns. The technology has made it possible for us to do things which were not possible in the past such as: cloning, designer babies, stem-cell research, human-animal hybrids, and so on.
In most debates we have two opinions who are arguing at one another. We have those who are against it, and say that, to do things I already have mention, is to play God. But then we have those who support the science advances e.g. Lewis Wolpert, who thinks it can be tricky to design babies because you can produce abnormalities, “he says, I think it’s a safety issue not an ethical issue.” So the problem is: are we playing God? Shall we use the scientific advances or not?
Hopefully the essay can give us the right answer or at least the arguments of each view.
