Describe the atmosphere and the author’s style to work (300 words)
The tell-tale heart a story by Edgar Ellan Poe written in 1843, it’s a Gothic fiction genre and one of his best work. The atmosphere in this story is very mysterious and suspenseful and it has a lot of overwrought emotions. The story makes the readers feel closer and more involved in the text. Trough the story we can feel the narrator’s nervousness and hear what he thinks. The author’s use of the first person is used to create a dark mood. There is lots of tension, because we want to know what happens and we are waiting to find out, with that the author push us to want more.
While reading the story the gender of the narrator is not revealed and leaves us thinking, and that adds lots of tension, because it is really hard to for us to think of a woman committing such a crime, but it could be a possibility, because the narrator confessed to loving the old man ‘’I loved the old man’’, maybe a love story.
The narrator's choice of word shows us how confidence he is in his kill "Never before that night had I felt the extent of my own powers - of my sagacity. I could scarcely contain my feelings of triumph". Even after the police comes to his house "I smiled, for what had I to fear? I bade the gentlemen welcome" he is very polite and confident in himself.
