The narrator is living in a house with an old man. The narrator loves the man, except his eye. The narrator sees it as a vulture. The narrator sees no other way, than killing the old man. He walks up to the mans room, and sits on the floor and waits. But the mans eyes are closed, so the narrator can’t kill him. But on eight night he bumps into a table, so the old man wakes up. The narrator could se the eye, and first then he could kill the man. He hides the body under the sealing. The police comes by. The narrator reveals himself because he thinks everybody can hear the old mans heart beat.

309 words character analysis:

In this short story, is the old man a part of the narrator.

The old man represents the narrator, and the evil eye represents all the bad things in and around the narrator. So it isn’t about the narrator, but it is about the old man.

If you look at the pun effect of “the evil eye” you can translate it into “the evil I”.

Therefore I think the eye represents the evil part of the narrator. The evil or the madness is taking over the narrator, and the only way for him to survive is to kill the old man.
