Kate Beckett: homicide detectiveRyan and Esposito: homicide detectives Lainie: the PerlmutterThe series primarily traces the lives of the mystery/crime writer Rick Castle and homicide detective Kate Beckett.It turns out Castle’s very wild theories, often make Beckett looks at the case from another angle, than she usually would. The series has two main focusses, solving the murders in the town, New York, and finding the killer of Kate Beckett’s mom.It’s a whodunnit – They always know the victim, during the episode, they find clues, trying to find the murder and the motive. They always have more than one suspect. Often the episode starts with a civilian finding a victim, then we see the team showing up, Ryan and Esposito being the light headed entertainment in the serious scenes, often makes a joke, and then Laine is giving the first clues to Rick and Beckett.

Back at the station Beckett delegate one of the clues they have to Ryan and Esposito, the other clue is followed up by her and Castle. This continues until castle has a very wild theory, that crack the case with the help of Beckett. This is where the show gives us two suspects and when we think we have the killer, often by some crazy insertion by castle it turns out a third person is the killer.
