Motivation

I find this topic interesting because my grandpa was in ww2, and has also written a book about it, even though the second world war and the Vietnam war was very different, I still find it interesting

I find it interesting

The lyrics are based on a true story. However, over the decades, artistic license, and an agreement to “protect the innocent” meant the mythology around the song has grown.

About

The Vietnam war

1955-1975, it was basically a war between the communist north Vietnam and the south Vietnam, both countries was supported by other countries (south was supported by capitalist and anti-communist countries and north by communist countries) the war was a guerrilla war, which means it was a war with no real front, which also is an important factor to why, many soldiers/veterans are suffering from ptsd. He sing in the song: “Any day could be your last day on 2 legs” That may also be one of the things that have been takings so hard on the soldiers mental health.
