It all happened on the 1. December 1955. It was cold outside, and I was waiting for the bus. We were two at the bus-stop, me and a white man. The man looked at me with his killer look, but I’m used to it because that is how all white men look at me. Because I’m black.
The bus came and I looked around, I saw a black woman sitting in front of the bust. I thought she was a brave woman because the front of the bus is only for white people, and we black people had space behind. But something happened. A man came in, but he just stood there in front of the black woman. The man asked her to go away and go down to the others of your race. He had a really hard tone and then she said, go and find another seat, this seat is for me. Everyone looked crazy at her, and some people in the bus loudly said, “did she just say that”, “omg that woman is totally crazy”. The bus driver came and said to her “if you do not leave your seat, then I will call the police”. Not a single sound from her
