In modern history racism has historically been a key factor for many of the biggest crises worldwide. Slavery, the second world war, and the American civil war are key examples of how injustice, inequality, and discrimination has led to millions of deaths for innocent people. Even though racism has led to all these horrific incidents, it is still ruining people’s lives in today’s modern society. This essay will firstly focus on explaining structural racism. Secondly, it will discuss the challenges the American society is facing as a result of structural racism, where police brutality and covid-19 will be the key topics. And lastly it will draw parallels to the novelle “The Tate You Give” how Blacks, Indigenous, and Other People of Color (BIPOC) have fought for equality in American society and which consequences it has on the community.
Throughout the America History white community compared to people of color, have built a social hierarchy in the system and society. People of color are experiencing racial inferiority compared to the white supremacy. The reason for this phenomenon is the structural racism that is intertwined with the political- and law systems in American society, because white privileges are one of the many consequences of structural racism that has been happening for decades.
