Star resides in this undesirable area. There she resides along with her parents, brothers, and mother. Khalid is Star's closest buddy, and sadly, he is a drug dealer in the area. Star and Khalid were on their way to a party. When they got there - a gunshot was fired. Khalid and Star sprinted to his vehicle and drove off. A white police officer pulled them over as they were driving. Khalid was instructed by the officer to get out of the car and lay his hands up on the car. Khalid refused to cooperate and instead reached inside the car for a hairbrush with his hands. It seemed to be a gun, so the officer shot Khalid. After that, news of Khalid's passing was widely reported. People were very angry and started to demonstrate. The decision of whether to find the officer guilty was now up to the court. As a result, Star was forced to publish her explanation, which she found difficult. The reason was that she wouldn’t want to be this mystery girl. In the end, they held a demonstration, where she stood up and told the entire issue to the crowd.
Tupac’s twist
The movie is inspired by Tupac. The catchphrase is "Thuglife." Tupac is responsible for giving the movie context. Especially in the film's conclusion, when Star screams out to the large crowd. Star is screaming out quotes, that in one sentence, summarized the whole movie. Tupac is positioned in the creator role – he almost “made” the movie.
