The flatiron building is located at the cross between 5th avenue, and broadway street

At the time, it was one of the most prominent locations in New York City.

The construction

The construction began in 1899 when the brothers Samuel and Mott Newhouse bought the property.

The building is built around a skeleton of steel, fronted with limestone and terra cotta, inspired by the French and Italian Renaissance with a Beaux-Arts styling that was popular at the time of the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition.

The construction finished in 1902, and the offices were ready to conquer.

The history behind the building

The building is designed by the Chicago architect Daniel Burnham

At 22 stories and 93 meters, the Flatiron has always been one of its most dramatic and iconic, and its popularity with photographers and artists has made it an enduring symbol of New York for more than a century.
