A lot of the problems in the movie is created when one character know something, or does not know something, that the other character does or does not.
For example when Frank THINKS he knows that Lester is gay, he kisses him, but really he has yet to figure out that he is not.
Time aspect
An interesting aspect of the way the movie is told, is the fact that Lester is narrating the movie “after” is happens ? This often times leads to him being more reflected in his statements.
