Plastik i havet: fakta og løsninger

Plastic is a word that originally meant “pliable and easily shaped.”

Plastic was made first time in 1860 by John Wesley Hyatt.

The word “plastic” was introduced in 1925.

every piece of plastic that was ever produced and was not recycled still exists.

Americans use over 4 million plastic bottles every hour!

Plastic – what is plastic? Is it a good thing or not? Is it both? Plastic is a material, there is easy to form, and easy to make. That is why it is cheap.

We use plastic to make for example balls, boxes, chairs, tables, toys and much more.

BUT all this plastic is ending up in the ocean and then the ocean currents pushes the plastic to an island - a plastic island this island floats around and is almost 4 times as big as Germany. But not all plastic ends up on the plastic island, some of the plastic just floats around in the ocean and the fish may get stuck in a big plastic peace which will prevent them from swimming. Or the fish thinks that smaller plastic pieces or micro plastic is food and they might eat it. When people eats the fish, we also eat plastic!
