Joe Biden held his acceptance speech on August the 20th. As mentioned before, the writer of the speech is Joe Biden. He was born in Scranton, Pa. in 1942 but currently lives in Wilmington, where the speech was held.
Joe Biden is a former vice-president and a democrat, who have twice before run unsuccessfully for presidency, but is now back for the spot as the 46th president of the USA.
The speech does not only refer to the democrats. The following quotation indicates that the audience/readers are the whole population of USA: “But while I will be a Democratic candidate, I will be an American president. I will work as hard for those who didn't support me as I will for those who did”. Biden refers to the entire USA to hopefully get as many votes as possible.
But it is still visible there is a clear implicit audience, which is the democrats who share the same opinions as Biden.
The language in text is of course formal, because his status I required a certain decency. Biden also has fine line between long and short sentences. He uses truncated sentences such as:
