Everyone has a strong opinion about something, and when politics is the theme, a lot of people have something to say. Of course, they do, it's their way of having an impact on the laws that get passed. Although the Danish country's democracy has turned out in a completely different way, this year, where they had more verbal attacks to go after the other political parties, there are some countries where the situation is very different. The United States is a perfect example because there had been elections about whether Joe Biden or Donald Trump should end up as president. Although Joe Biden ended up with the victory, things did not go quietly. Trump supporters chose to take physical action after Donald Trump had spoken out about "the election of 2020 had been stolen" (p.1, l. 27). The only question is whether the election was actually stolen, or whether Trump created a ditch in American democracy?
The writer and the speaker of the speech is Joe Biden. The speech is mostly about him talking to the people, giving some information and comfort. It is a very dramatic and emotional speech, because of the things that were said and done prior to the election. This is evident when he starts the speech saying, "a man smashed the back windows and broke into the home", this shows how dramatic the whole situation is, but it also shows Biden's use the form of appeal pathos as he tries to appeal to people's emotions, as a burglary is an unpleasant situation no one wants to experience. However, he indirectly uses the appeal of logos, as most of the population knows deep down that it is not ethically correct to destroy things, knock people down with a hammer, and kidnap others.
