1.Explain in short, the segregation shown in Jackson in the movie.

“coloured people” are separated from white people. I.e. with the toilets in the houses coloured people could not use the main toilet in the house, where there would rather be a separated toilet for coloured outside the house in a little loathsome shed. And with it that all the domestic helpers are black, and mostly black women. It puts them in a position of submission, where their only job is to do whatever their, white, “masters” say. And as we see in the movie there are no black people who live in big luxury mansions with servants, they all live in the same neighbourhood with poor living conditions and small shacks.

2.What made Aibi change her mind about being interviewed by Skeeter?

She had reached a point where she no longer could tolerate the treatment by Hilly after she was forced to say thank you for the new outhouse to Elizabeth. And after Yule may got arrested because she stole a ring from Hilly, since Hilly wouldn’t give her a loan for her son's college tuitions.

3.How did Minny and Hilly’s cake-incident work as ”an insurance”, so that no one would know the book was about Jackson?
