I have travelled a lot in my sabbatical year, all around the world, but I’ve just got back from the most memorable one so far. When I planned this trip, I knew that I wouldn’t have much money left because it was one of the last locations. Therefor I decided to try something new. One of my great friends once told me about couch surfing. At first, I was very doubtful about the idea of visiting a random family and living in there home for a while, but that changed.
My trip started December 15. I remember being really nervous when I first arrived at the airport in New Zealand, traveling alone wasn’t completely new anymore, but the fact that I wasn’t going to stay at a hotel that I already knew what was like, scared med a bit. Luckily, my fear stopped as soon as I saw my host family, they looked so sweet, and my facial expression completely changed from one second to another. The smile on my face grew, I was very relived. The family Consisted of a mom named Anna, a dad named Craig, and to siblings, the cutest little sister Emma (13 years), and a sweet and very mature big brother Oliver (16 years). They took care of me from day one and met me whit open arms, I felt welcome.
